Normal water levels for the North Saskatchewan at Edmonton are around 3 metres and flow at a rate of 200 cubic metres per second. With the increase in height or speed, debris will start to flow downstream and can cause damage to the dock, boats, and safety of our paddlers. As water flow increases, so should the “paddler minimum” for practices.
Guidelines
Practices will be monitored to ensure the new minimums are appropriate.
200-275 - 10 paddler minimum (Normal Conditions)
275-325 - 14 paddler minimum
325-350 - 16 paddler minimum
350-400 - 18 paddler minimum
400-450 - 20 paddler minimum
450+ - Practices suspended
